Super Smash BC Clan Tournament

Super Smash BC's first clan tournament will take place on Saturday, Oct 18 at 4:00 Eastern. Each clan shall have a 7 person lineup (plus alternates), and each person will play in 1 and only 1 match. There will be 3 singles matches and 2 doubles matches. Whoever wins the most out of the 5 matches will win the war. For those of you who are familiar with team tennis matches, its the same format. Each clan is responsible for setting their own lineup. You will need to submit a lineup in the following format 24 hours before the tournament begins (please include their FC in the lineup):

#1 Singles - Best Singles Player
#2 Singles - 2nd Best Singles Player
#3 Singles - 3rd Best Singles Player
#1 Doubles - Best Doubles Team
#2 Doubles - 2nd Best Doubles Team

The order of the lineup cannot be changed throughout the tournament. You may substitute an alternate in for any player before any match, but if that same player is to play again he must return to his original spot.


The settings that will be used for each match are the following:

Best 2 or 3
3 stock
No items
Neutral Stages (Battlefield, Final Destination, Yoshi's Island, Lylat Cruise, Smashville)
No character restrictions
Team Attack On

In the event of extreme lag in any match the match can just not be played. It must be agreed upon by both parties that the lag has made the match not worth playing. If it is a doubles match, each doubles team should choose 1 player and it will become a singles match instead. If a singles match is unplayable, there will either be no replacement match or both clans can agree to have alternates play the match. This means a tie could be possible. In the event of a tie, each clan must choose 1 player for a tie breaking singles match. This player can not be a player whose match was canceled due to lag. Any clan determined to be intentionally creating lag in order to get a match canceled will be forced to forfeit.

In order to join the clan leader must create a team for the tournament. To do this, simply click on the tournament link up in the navigation menu and then choose "Add Team." The leader can then enter the clan into the tournament. Members of that clan can then apply to join.

Edit: Many people are misunderstanding how this works. This whole tournament will take place at once. It will start at 4 eastern and possibly last 3-4 hours (45 minutes a round estimated). Those participating must be there at that time. You can substitute people in and out so they all don't have to be there the whole time, but you must have a complete lineup for each round. If someone is not there and you don't have an alternate to replace them they will forfeit their match. We will not wait very long for no shows before giving them a loss.

I'm guessing you figured out how to add members, since you have already added 2 others. We are expecting a minimum of 16. 32 is my goal, but that might in reality be a little high for our first tournament.

No, definitely not. You couldn't even possibly win a match with just 2, so no reason to enter. I'm also discouraging any SSBC social clan to enter because BC Elite will be entering. I'm not prohibiting it, but I strongly discourage it.

A) There is going to be extremely good competition in this tournament. Some of the best online clans are expected to be there. There are going to be players that you couldn't take on 1v1, let alone 2v1.

B) Even if you could you would still lose. You have to win 3 matches, and each person can only play once. Therefore you must have at least 3 people to win. The top 2 brawlers in the world couldn't win a round against a full clan of 4 year olds.

Edit: Make sure you also visit the tournament page and enter your team in it. You can go ahead and do that now, even if you don't have all the members on your team (everyone never really has to join, as long as you list them in the line up you submit and have there info). You can of course wait, but I just wanted to make sure you knew to do that.

If you are wanting to join this be sure you create your team, join the tournament, and get me a lineup 24 hours prior to the tournament. I know there are about 20 clans that have said they are really excited about this and told me they are definitely joining, but haven't come here and done anything. There is still plenty of time, but don't wait too late.

Also, this may end up only being an 8 clan tournament. Many of the clans saying they were in have now withdrawn because they can't find enough people to play. It won't be as big but should still be pretty good, and if you keep winning you will be able to get 3 clan wars played in a matter of a few hours.

I went to your chat room and asked if you guys were entering and someone confirmed that you were and told me to put you in. It also said at the top of the chat room that you had this tournament at 4:00 eastern and that you wouldn't be there and someone needed to take control for you, which showed to me that you were expecting wt to participate.

And no, I don't know how. This is not my script. It is not possible to change through the admin feature, and I do not feel like digging through the database to try and find where I would change it. I could probably do it, but it would take me a while since I'm not that good at all of this coding. It's not worth spending the time on. And to be honest, even if I could do it with the click of the mouse I wouldn't, because you didn't come in here asking to see if it could be changed or try and talk with me, but just came in here bitching demanding it be changed. I went in your chat room probably 20 times the day before the tournament and nearly that the day of. The day before I kept asking if you all would be entering, and finally in the afternoon someone told me that you would be. The next day I kept going in looking for a lineup and every time I was either ignored or told that you didn't know your lineup yet. One thing was very clear, although no one seemed to know exactly what was going on, their were several people in the chat that were aware there was a tournament and that they were entered.

At 4:00 I again went into your chat a few times to see if wt was coming, and was again ignored for the most part. The closest thing I got to a response was someone saying "hey guys, aren't we supposed to be in a tournament right now."

I'm also not claiming wt lost. I'm just denying your request to be removed from the bracket, as it is not something that is easy to do after the tournament is complete and I do not feel that I did anything wrong by putting wt in.
